Sungai Kongo (juga dinamakan Sungai Zaire) yaitu sungai terbesar di Afrika Tengah proses Barat. Sungai ini memiliki panjang bertambah kurang 4.700 km, menjadikannya menjadi sungai terbesar kedua di Afrika (setelah sungai Nil). Sungai ini mengalir menempuh hutan hujan terbesar di dunia,[1]. Nama Kongo berasal dari Kerajaan Kongo. Dari tahun 1971 sampai 1997, pemerintah Zaire menyebutnya Sungai Zaire.
